ProForm Performance 600i Treadmill Review

ProForm Performance 600i Treadmill Review

By J. Maki

The ProForm Performance 600i Treadmill is one of three models in the Performance series, in the between the 400i and the 800i. It’s price tag hovers around $1300, which is more than likely the result of its technology and not so much its foundational components (durability, motor, and spaciousness). If you are looking for a treadmill to accommodate low to moderate intensity exercise, the 600i may be a choice for you.

The beauty of the 600i is its convenience, as it is a smaller treadmill, both in its dimensions and in its weight. Factor in its ability to be folded up and wheeled, and the 600i can be helpful for those of you with limited room to store your treadmill.

The 600i can handle users up to 300 pounds, while the model is only 200 pounds itself. Unfortunately, because it is on the smaller size, the running belt specifications are not ideal. At 18” x 55”, the belt is not the most accommodating, and taller runners with larger feet should be mindful of this.

iFit, You Fit, We All Fit

One of the great features about ProForm treadmills is their compatibility with iFit, a great interactive, virtual training partner to make your workouts more enjoyable. The 600i is not different, as it comes with a 1-year family membership which enables you to access thousands of on-demand and live workouts.

With a 10” high definition touchscreen display that is video-capable, you are able to experience iFit in a functional and convenient way.

If I Had (a Few) Wishes…

An area where the 600i could improve is its motor. With a 2.5 continuous duty motor, this is not the ideal power source for higher-intensity/mileage workout plans. Consequently, the maximum speed is capped at 10 mph, though not too many people would be taking advantage of that high of a speed!

If you are looking to implement consistent low-to-moderate intensity, exercise, then the motor will be more than sufficient for your goals.

So Many Fish in the Sea

Every treadmill is different and has unique combinations of specs and bells and whistles. The important task is to find the treadmill that aligns with your goals. If you are looking for a convenient model that will work in the smallest of homes and that will accommodate non-high intensity workouts, the 600i may be right for you.

What makes the 600i unique?

Space-friendly and convenient. Not overwhelmingly large, and can be folded and rolled away for storage. If you are looking for a quality treadmill that is space-sensitive, the 600i may be an option for you.

What is the 600i missing?

The motor could be more powerful, but again, if your fitness goals require only low-to-moderate intensities, the 600i can help you get it done.

What customers are saying about the Proform Performance Series 600i? (From Proform’s website)

  • “I am really enjoying the 600i. It has so many features and the unit functions beautifully. I did a lot of research before buying. I would only consider Pro-form ( last one lasted 20 years)and this was the model for me.”
  • “I have noticed, it is much quieter than my old treadmill & the cushioning seems to be better on my 64 year old joints. This new treadmill keeps me from procrastinating about morning exercise.”
  • “I love this treadmill!! I use it 5 days a week.”
  • “I love the treadmill. It’s very sturdy and has some great features. The cooling fan could be a little more powerful and it would be great if it was adjustable (I’m almost too short for it).”
