Reason # 3 to Invest in a Treadmill: Personalization

Nothing beats a treadmill, and there are a host of reasons why. And while I am a proponent of outdoor exercise, and it is my primary choice for running and walking, I love my treadmill and all of the benefits it provides.
You Should Own a Treadmill!
I believe that each and every one of us should own a treadmill because it is a positive step in ensuring our health and well-being. Unfortunately, many people see a treadmill as an expensive investment that they cannot afford, or that they believe is just not worth the money. Yet many of these same people spend thousands of dollars on new cell phones, televisions, and other passive technologies that do nothing to boost your health.
A treadmill boosts your health and can improve your overall quality of life. Can a smart device compare to that?
Didn’t think so.
There is one trait of treadmills that is not often considered, and that is its ability to be customized to meet your specific needs and goals. The general population may just assume that all you can do is walk or run on a treadmill, but in 2020, this is a gross oversimplification.
First, a treadmill gives you the ability to capitalize on your N.E.T Time (which I discussed here). N.E.T Time, or no extra time, is the ability to do two things at once that are beneficial to your life. With your treadmill, now that many of them are equipped with trays to hold books, magazines, and/or smart devices, you can read, watch videos, or browse websites as you walk. This allow you to learn new information related to an area of interest for you, or work through that stack of books that has been collecting dust in your home. You can also use the time on your treadmill to listen to audiobooks, podcasts, music, or even positive affirmations, which can enhance an already body-mind strengthening activity.
Next, many treadmills have preloaded workouts installed that are designed to meet specific types of goals the user may have such as fat loss, intervals, and/or tempo runs. Beyond that, with new interactive technologies such as iFit or the on-demand live workouts offered through Peloton, you can tailor your workout, with real people or virtual settings, to help you meet your goals. This type of customization is not available to you when you are exercising on your own outdoors, and these unique features may provide you with the motivation you need to not only finish the day’s workout, but also to stay consistent with your routine as you pursue your highest level of fitness.
Flexibility of Scheduling
Finally, the most valuable way you can personalize your workout with your treadmill is that you can do it any time, any day, completely on your own schedule. Your workout is on your own terms, and you don’t have to rely on a gym, the weather, or a workout partner to do something for your health. Simply get on your treadmill and go!
A treadmill can change your life, and it will empower your to customize your exercise to not only meet your specific fitness goals, but also your specific scheduling needs.
